A beautiful townhome in a two-story duplex building that is part of the first cohousing community in Mexico, Rancho la Salud Village, located in the lovely Lake Chapala area just west of Ajijic village and less than an hour's drive from the Guadalajara International Airport.

The house, built in 2018,  has traditional Mexican design and decoration -- stone walls, brick ceilings, heavy wooden doors, Talavera tiles etc.-- along with modern comforts and conveniences.

Surrounding the house on two sides  are mature colorful gardens whose flowers attract bees and pollinating insects. On the east side are tall bamboo plants that provide shade and privacy.

Downstairs there is a large all-electric kitchen, a dining area, a living room with built-in shelves and drawers, a guest bathroom, a bedroom with an  adjoining full bathroom, and porches facing east and west to watch the sunrise and the sunset.

Upstairs there is a large mirador (roof terrace) with an expansive view, bodegas (storage closets for solar water heater and personal items), and an area with a sink where an outdoor kitchen could be set up. Indoors there is a large room with a boveda ceiling, a  full bath, and a small balcony facing east with lovely views of nearby greenery, mountains and the lake in the distance. The common grounds include a large beautifully constructed and furnished palapa, a 16-meter swimming pool and a jacuzzi tub with a surrounding deck, a  firepit, organic fruit trees and vegetable gardens, a compost pile, and a lot of open space. There is a community well to provide a constant source of water. 

The community is fully sustainable with solar panels in each house, biodigesters for waste water, rainwater catchment and other planet-saving features. Inside the house (in the kitchen)  there is a reverse-osmosis filter for clean drinking water.

Appliances in the house include a large refrigerator, an electric stove and oven, and a washing machine.

Shops and restaurants are easily accessible by car or the new convenient  bicycle and walking path.
