Bio
Thomas Hellyer is considered to be a bi-cultural expert with a strong analytical aptitude combined with a calm, forthright, and honest demeanor. His command of the Spanish language and the intricacies of Mexican real estate make him an ideal person to guide you through the process of making your dreams of living and /or investing in Mexico an exciting reality.
Thomas is originally from Lake Chelan, a beautiful resort town in Washington State. He received a BA in Business Administration from the University of Washington, Tacoma with a concentration in International Business. He first came to Mexico in the early 1990s to study Spanish in Guadalajara and totally immersed himself in the customs and slowly but slowly became fluent in Mexican Spanish. He obtained his Mexican citizenship in 2012.
In 2018, he opened Chapala Realtors after ten years working as an agent with another local firm. The goal for this new company was simple! Provide an amazing client experience while at the same time provide a wonderful work environment for the staff and fellow agents. Thomas thrives in this leadership position and is known for his ability to find a workable solution under almost any situation, no matter how difficult it might be. It is his belief that real estate deals must always be a WIN/WIN transaction. In 2022, Chapala Realtors closed almost 200 sales! That is almost 1 sale per business day! He takes great pride in seeing the agents of his office achieve their goals and have economic success.
In addition to brokering the office, Thomas still loves to list properties for sale and work with buyers. He does this with his work partner, Erika Alamos (also his fiance!). They are a very successful real estate TEAM!
Thomas loves giving back to the community and over the years has donated hundreds of thousands of pesos to deserving organizations and individuals and has been a Rotarian in the Rotary Club of Ajijic since 2009. He has 3 wonderful children that he adores.
